Skin Hyperpigmentation

Skin Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation refers to the darkening of the skin due to increased melanin production. It can occur throughout the skin, such as in the case of sun-induced tanning, or only in specific areas like the groin, armpits, and upper lip.

It is a skin condition that affects the appearance and often even the quality of life for many individuals. It can occur due to various factors, including:

  • Excessive sun exposure without protection.
  • Trauma, such as blows, burns, friction from tight clothing, or incorrect hair removal methods.
  • Use of hormones or certain medications.
  • Exposure to chemical agents that may cause irritation.
  • Consequences of skin conditions like folliculitis, ingrown hairs, and acne.

Generally, these dark spots do not improve spontaneously and require treatment and the use of specific cosmetics for their control.

One of the most troublesome darkening issues for women is in the groin and armpit areas. This problem can arise in these regions primarily due to improper hair removal techniques using wax, laser, or blades, as well as friction from tight clothing, allergies, and irritations. This reaction is a defense mechanism of the body since an inflammatory process starts soon after the skin is traumatized, leading to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is the darkening of the area.

As these are more sensitive regions, spots and darkening tend to appear, especially in higher phototype skins that have a higher melanin content in the body and produce eumelanin, a pigment that ranges from brownish to black.

Lightening the Groin and Armpits

For lightening these areas, we recommend lightening sessions with qualified professionals, involving gentle exfoliation using Depil Bella Body Scrub Cream, Raavi Dermocosmetics' White Clay, and daily maintenance using Depil Bella Lightening Serum until improvement of the spots.

Depil Bella Lightening Serum contains active ingredients with intelligent lightening technology, capable of continuously and safely acting on post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It includes Niacinamide, TGP2 Peptide, Hydroviton, Fucogel, and Aloe Vera. Additionally, it contains biotechnological actives with emollient and high-performance properties, as well as aloe vera extract, which hydrates the skin, improving texture, softness, and smoothness.
